About Thurman's digital artwork in the May “NOTM” international group exhibition curated by Erica Barrish, AVP of Christie's New York Auction House: "Erica seemed especially excited by Randy Thurman's digital painting, Exhilaration, and selected that piece for the honor of launching the month as May 1st."

On Randy's Thurman's "Enlightenment #2" and "Time" - These two works are marvelous!
Enlightenment #2 has a convincing appearance of sheets assembled to a harmonious layer that keeps the eye at the glazy surface with its shimmering pastel colors. Light reflects off the partitioned elements and the round embedded peg tacks it all together. Contrasted with the blocky formalistic composition of segments, the glistening diagonal semi-transparent flow on the lower right adds another dimension and dynamic counterpoint to the stillness of the shield-like background. Great piece, stronger in my opinion, than the work from which it was spawned.
Ah, and Time is exactly that. The star shape on the left with radiating lines suggests hope, the eternal afterlife, besides a frozen moment of the day. Its brilliance is the accent of the scene, the focal point of the composition, which gradually fades into cavernous darkness, suggestive of the mystery of the night, on the right. The colors and textures do convey spatial depth and a panoramic sense of the "landscape." The contrast and hues read "dramatic" as well as "emotional," and overall, the piece intertwines the landscape with the abstract in a masterful way.

Randy Thurman's Philosophy on Art and “The Art of Conspiration”
The Philosophy behind the Art of Conspiration: Why does the artist paint? Is it not the artists main goal to express some thing, to convey some message or meaning to the viewer? Without the viewer there is no need for the painting. If there is no need for the painting, then there is no need for the artist. In an ideal situation, when this triangular convergence of art, artist and viewer occurs, it produces the Art of Conspiration.
The art, artist, and viewer form this triangle, and if we remove any one component there is only non-existence. This symbiotic triad of components works in almost any situation, whether dealing with art, nature or economics. A shared empathy between these three components of the triangle is essential to creating the ideal situation, facilitating the Art of Conspiration.
The Conspiration of Art: The term 'conspiration' denotes a certain technique used to harmonize breathing between two or more persons. The knowledge of this technique has been handed down through the ages. When applied correctly, conspiration can be used to successfully control a given individual's psyche, even his or her sexual desires. Should not a work of art also accomplish these same goals through color, brushstrokes, geometric patterns and their specific placement, as well as figurative representations of the human form? Art should be a very intimate experience between the artist and the viwer. A great work of art gives the viewer a deep look into the artist's psyche while subconsiously the art itself penetrates the viewers thoughts, melding the two into a union of shared empathy. The controlled breathing technique of conspiration can be aptly applied to the profound bonding of the artist and the viewer. Do you not feel your own breathing change subtly or sharply as your eyes behold and move over the surface of a painting, sculpture, or other work of fine art.
If only for a brief moment the artist and viewer become one.

Randy Thurman's Music
Classical music was an early influence, although Randy's first musical expression was virtuosity on the electric guitar. From rough acoustic blues, to contemporary classical, to improvisational jazz, and sublime avant-garde soundscapes, Randy Thurman explores the gamut of music and sound and brings back something interesting.
Randy’s music has enjoyed international exposure from New York City to London, Belgium, Portugal and Australia. Randy's improvisational jazz guitar album, Inner Journey, debuted at New York City's innovative and progressive art gallery, Monkdogz Urban Art, along with his abstract artwork at the January 2007 international exhibition "Day After Tomorrow: The Next Tortured Genius"
